On January 28, 2020 French Tech Moscow together with Leroy Merlin Russia organised their first HR event in IT “Recruiting, managing IT and producing efficient digital services: return of French companies’ experts”, designed for professionals willing to apply modern techniques for recruitment of developers and HR branding. Hosted by Leroy Merlin Russia, the meeting aimed to share the expertise in the field of HR & IT, to discover best practices of the market as well as to bring the stakeholders of the French and Russian companies together to find possible ways of collaboration.

Opening remarks were given by a representative of French Tech Moscow community, who told about its activities in Russia.

Antonin Molle, CIO at Leroy Merlin Russia, and Jean-Noёl Rivasseau, Founder and CTO of Kameleoon shared about HR branding and recruiting of developers. The speakers addressed how to develop IT teams from two different perspectives — a corporate company and a startup, giving also an overview about the businesses.

What are the recruitment trends in IT? Which search tools are used by Leroy Merlin Russia to attract qualified developers? Those questions were touched upon the presentation. As omni-channels became more important, it was necessary to invest in IT, mentioned CIO at Leroy Merlin Russia.

Board member of French Tech Moscow spoke about his experience in recruiting of IT specialists:

“One of the biggest problems of a tech startup is to find a skilled developer.”

As a comparison between the French and the Russian IT market the expert in the field of Conversion Optimisation and Artificial Intelligence pointed out:

“When I recruit developers in France, I pay attention to their education, whereas in Russia I do not consider it at all, I have employees with different background in my team.”

He described the challenges while attracting talented developers in Russia and gave some examples from previous situations he faced.

The French experts emphasised the importance of staff in the companies and the development of their skills.

“The most successful part of our HR branding is that it involves employees. It is useful in order to develop the skills of employees, so that they are connected to communities, so that they can receive through these sources of information what they need for their development. This recognition advances their attractiveness in the market. The fact that they are attractive in the market helps us in the long-term. The professional development as well as the salary level opportunities attract young professionals,” — Antonin Molle also stressed.

The speakers answered various questions regarding remote working opportunities, salary level and taxes in both countries.

Those participants who could not join the meeting could watch the live translation and asked their question online. The video is available below.
